About Artist

Shampa Sircar Das (b. 1970,Delhi) is an acclaimed contemporary artist who’s vibrant,symbol- laden paintings explore nature, spirituality, and India’s rich cultural heritage. A BFA graduate from the College of Art, New Delhi (1993), with an MFA from Jamia Millia Islamia (1995), she creates works that evoke a meditative, cosmic aura forms emerge and dissolve across expansive canvases, balancing movement and stillness.

Drawing on Vedic and Buddhist symbolism, Tibetan sacred art, and imagery from Indian epics and Bengali folklore, Shampa infuses her compositions with a sense of transcendence. Her travels in Leh, Ladakh, and Spiti further inform this spiritual visual language.

Over the past two decades she has presented more than ten solo exhibitions including Pravah (2023, collateral to India Art Fair 2024), Antardhwani (2019), and Devi (2016)and participated in over 250 group shows and international art fairs across India, South Korea, New York, Dubai, Chicago, London, Vietnam, and Singapore.

Her many honours include the Raja Ravi Varma Samman (2018) and the Bharat Nirman Award (2017). Shampa’s works are held in prominent private, corporate, and institutional collections in India and abroad. She lives and works in New Delhi.
